FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a spiritual wedding ceremony?

A spiritual wedding ceremony centers on universal love, personal meaning, and ritual — without requiring any one religious doctrine. It’s built around what actually matters to you as a couple.

Is a non-religious ceremony legally binding?

Yes. As a licensed officiant, every ceremony I perform is fully legal — the style of the ceremony has no bearing on the legal validity of your marriage license.

Can you write a fully custom ceremony?

Yes. The Grand Blessing package includes a ceremony written entirely from scratch around your story. The First Light and Guided Journey packages weave your story into a flexible, personalized structure.

How do I find an LGBTQ+-friendly officiant?

You’ve found one. Every ceremony here is fully affirming of LGBTQ+, trans, and non-binary couples — no adjusted language, no hesitation, no judgment.

Do you travel outside Ann Arbor and Livingston County?

Yes, for a small travel add-on depending on distance. Reach out with your venue location for a quote.

Do I have to pay before we talk?

No. The consult call is completely free with no obligation. You’ll only be asked to commit once you’ve chosen a package and you’re ready to book your date.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as your date and venue are set — popular dates fill first. Booking within 8 weeks of your wedding is possible but carries a rush fee.

Can we write or choose parts of our own ceremony?

Absolutely. Vow-writing guidance is included starting with The Guided Journey, and The Grand Blessing includes full collaborative vow-writing with you.

What if we’re not religious at all?

That’s completely welcome. Ceremonies can be built entirely around the Universal Light & Nature theme, with no religious language at all.
